Coca-Cola Beverages Belarus contributes to youth education
Minsk, 28/08/2009. Coca-Cola Beverages Belarus welcomed a group of Summer School students of the “EU Social policy”, organized by “The New Eurasia Establishment” an NGO in partnership with Belarus State University and Wuppertal University of Germany.Plant tour programs and presentations focused on CSR idea and best practices were made by Coca-Cola Beverages Belarus’ managers, UN Belarus office specialists and JSC “Savushkin”, a member of the Belarus Global Compact Network.
Youth development. Coca-Cola Beverages Belarus traditionally supports youth development programmes aimed to help young people develop self-esteem and leadership skills.
Coca-Cola Beverages Belarus has for many years sponsored the annual Republican Law Students Competition which is run by the Belarusian State University. This contest is one more sphere of partnership of the company with NGO “New Eurasia Establishment”.
Coca-Cola Beverages Belarus pays much attention to the support of environmental educational initiatives. In cooperation with the NGO‘APB Birdlife Belarus’ we are working on a range of programmes to raise youth awareness of water issues. For example we are the National sponsor of Stockholm Junior Water Prize and annual the Water Festival in Sumilino village.
UN Global Compact. The United Nations (UN) Global Compact is the largest voluntary corporate citizenship initiative in the world. Aimed at implementing the UN ten universal principles which encourage responsible business practices in the areas of human rights, labour, the environment and anti-corruption, the local networks are helping to bring the Global Compact to life in different national and cultural contexts.
Coca-Cola Beverages Belarus was among the first group of Belarusian companies to join the UN Global Compact in December 2006. For three years, the General Manager of Coca-Cola Beverages Belarus has chaired the Global Compact Network, which unites more then 60 local companies, NGOs and trade associations.
